Summary of Ceramic Sector in Bangladesh

At present, in the education system of Bangladesh, it is very difficult to get a job of choice in theoretical studies. Even after graduation, the job of choice does not match. As a result, the problem of unemployment is increasing day by day. In all the countries of the world, technical education is given enough importance to build a skilled population. As a developing country, Bangladesh is not lagging behind in this regard. One such epoch-making technology is ceramic engineering. Some of the institutes under Bangladesh Technical Education Board have 04 years Diploma in Engineering in this subject. In the last few years, there has been a revolution in this industry. At present there are a couple of hundred ceramic products manufacturing companies in our country. Domestic ceramic companies are meeting the demand of our country almost 100 percent. Apart from this, more recently, some Bangladeshi companies have been exporting their products to several countries in Asia, including Europe and America. Despite the huge demand for ceramic engineers, the opportunity for education in this field has not expanded much in our country. Due to the small number of educational institutions at the diploma level, the ceramics industry is not getting the skilled manpower as per their demand, hence the demand for students who have passed in this technology is huge in all the ceramic industries.

Course Details

Diploma in Ceramic Engineering is 4 year long program and it consisting of 8 semesters (each semester is 6 month). Two exam such as in-course and final exam held per semester conducted under the supervision of Bangladesh technical Education Board (BTEB).

Job placement sector

Ceramic engineer having scope to doing smart job in the following sector:

• Ceramic factory: Production, Glazing, Grinding etc.
• : BIGCI, BGACE, BUTE,SCIENCE AND LABOURITY,PWD.
• Foreign job are available in Europe, US etc.

Ceramic department at ISTT

Institute of science trade & Technology (ISTT) established in 1998 to produce skilled manpower & remove unemployment problem. Institute of science trade & Technology (ISTT) is affiliated institute under Bangladesh Technical Education Board. This institute provided 4 years Diploma in Textile Engineering degree since 2003-04 sessions. Our students achieved outstanding results in Technical board. Our passes out students are playing important role & position in different in Bangladesh & abroad.

Academic Session

The admission procedure starts after the SSC results. There is mainly one session in a year. Students have to follow the admission announcement which is given by the Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) authority. Usually the admission procedure starts after May depending on the SSC result.

• Admission Eligibility
• Minimum SSC/ Equivalent Passed.
• Minimum GPA 2.0 & 40% marks on General Math
• No restriction for the age and the SSC passing year

Opportunity of Higher Education

After complete Diploma in Ceramic Engineering they are having scope to complete their B.Sc. & M.Sc. in Ceramic Engineering from RUET in Bangladesh. Students also getting their B.Sc. , M.Sc. and Phd degree from abroad.
